Sage grew up in Rock Springs; she attended schools in Rock Springs, ultimately graduating from Rock Spring High School, and attended undergrad and law school in Laramie. A true Wyomingite, it was always her goal to return to her community in Sweetwater County after law school to practice. That goal was achieved when she was hired as an associate at Mathey Law Office in Green River in 2013. She worked for years with Richard Mathey, a well known and learned attorney in Sweetwater County. The makeup of the firm changed over time, and upon Richard’s retirement, Sage took over and eventually was rebranded as Sage Hilstad Law.

Sage resides in Rock Springs with her husband, Dustin, 2 dogs (JD and Sammy), and 2 cats (Wilson and Dinky). JD and Sammy are valued employees, coming to work with Sage everyday without fail. Sage enjoys all things outdoors, including exploring the back dirt roads of Sweetwater County, camping, river floats, boating and floating on the Flaming Gorge, snowshoeing, etc.
